GOOD
QUESTIONS.
Comfort starts with clarity. Here are a few things you might want to know.
Why is my heater blowing cold air?
First check the thermostat: it should be set to Heat, with the fan on Auto rather than On. If you have a heat pump, short bursts of cool air can be the normal defrost cycle, and warm air should return within a few minutes. If it keeps blowing cold, it’s time for a tech. Call (602) 586-6001 or text (480) 470-4195.
My heater won’t turn on. What can I check first?
Check three things: the thermostat (batteries, Heat mode, setpoint above room temperature), the breaker for the furnace or air handler, and that the furnace access panel is fully closed. If it still won’t start, don’t keep resetting the breaker. Call us instead.
Why does my heater keep shutting off?
A clogged air filter is the most common thing to check first, because restricted airflow can make a system overheat and shut itself off. If a clean filter doesn’t fix it, a tech should look at the sensors and controls.
Can I get same-day heating repair in Tempe or Phoenix?
Yes, same-day repair when capacity allows. We’re open 24/7 from our Tempe shop at 2130 E 5th St and cover Tempe, Phoenix, and the East Valley. Call (602) 586-6001 for a real ETA.
How much is the heating diagnostic?
The diagnostic fee is $110, and it’s waived when you approve the repair. Gold members get the diagnostic waived. Memberships are Silver $14.99, Gold $30, and Platinum $55.
Will I know the price before you start?
Yes. You always get the price before any work starts. If you approve the repair, the $110 diagnostic fee is waived.
Do you charge extra for nights or weekends?
Not for Gold members and new customers. They pay no added fee for 24/7 service, including nights and weekends. See the fee FAQ for more.
What should I do if I smell gas?
Leave the house right away, and from outside call your gas utility or 911. Don’t use switches or the thermostat on your way out. Once the gas is dealt with, call us about the heater.

Valley heating systems sit idle most of the year, then get asked to work hard on a handful of cold nights. Here’s what the three most common calls usually mean, and what you can safely check first.
Check that the thermostat is on Heat and the fan is on Auto, not On. Heat pumps can blow cool air for a few minutes during a normal defrost cycle. If it’s cold for longer than that, a furnace may not be lighting or a heat pump may not be switching into heat, and a tech should check it.
Replace thermostat batteries, confirm Heat mode and a setpoint above room temperature, check the furnace or air handler breaker, and make sure the furnace access panel is closed tight. Still nothing? Call us instead of resetting the breaker again and again.
Start with the air filter. A clogged filter restricts airflow, and the system can overheat and shut itself off. If it keeps cycling off with a clean filter, a sensor or control problem needs a tech’s diagnosis.
A heater that sat all summer can have dust, weak parts, or ignition trouble that only shows up when it finally runs. We diagnose it on site.
A light dusty smell on the first run of the season is common. A burning smell, loud banging, or grinding isn’t: turn the system off and call.
Leave the house right away and call your gas utility or 911 from outside. Don’t use switches or the thermostat on your way out.
